Diezani Alison-Madueke released on bail by UK court as Presidency remains silent about her arrest

The Nigerian presidency is keeping sealed lips over the dramatic arrest in London of the country’s former petroleum minister Dieziani Alison-Madueke as it emerged that she has been granted bail by a London magistrates court.

Spokespersons to President Buhari on Media and Publicity, Femi Adesina and Shehu Garba have refused to comment on whether Diezani’s arrested was at the request of the Nigerian government.

Hours after her arrest in London on Friday by the UK National Crime Agency over allegations of bribery and corruption, Mrs Alison-Madueke was granted bail but had her passport seized by the police while she was ordered to report to the Charing Cross Police Station on Monday for questioning.
